Journalists, Public relation Officers receive training

Wolkite: - The Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority (EBA) says the role of the mass media in developmental and democratization process is pivotal
 This was disclosed at a three day awareness   training organized here at joka Hotel for journalists, public relation officers and their heads drawn from Southern Ethiopia nations, nationalities and state Mass Media offices.
Opening the training , Leuel Geberu , Deputy General director of the authority said that  EBA,   realizing the  immense role the media plays in the overall development and democratization of the country ,  is  expanding  the mass media and   undertaking inspection and support  activities .


No doubt , the media has irreplaceable role to play towards realizing the Growth and transformation plan , he said and went on to state that they need to be aware of the  media rules and regulations in order  to discharge their duties and responsibilities diligently and successfully .
 According to   South Mass media wolkitate branch office   General Manager, Negatu Woldae the training not only help journalists and public relations officers exchange their experiences but also see challenges and short comings for future activities.
Noting that the training is the first of its kind when organized at branch office level, he said that others need to   follow suits in building the capacity of   professionals in the field.
Some 93 professionals have reportedly attended courses in the mass media and legal   frame works, development journalism, program standards, ethics, news writing.
 EBA in cooperation with southern Ethiopia nations, nationalities and state mass media organization Wolkitae branch have organized the training that was funded by Guragae Development association.
 Demesese Yirga Guragae zone Culture, Tourism and government communication Affairs Department Head   and Ayalew Getaneh have handed over the certificates to participants.
