EBA:-Ethics Section of the Ethiopian Broadcasting Authority( EBA) shared here its rich experiences to counter parts drawn from Southern Ethiopia nations , nationalities and peoples regional state on august 19 2011.
welcoming and opening the experience sharing session, Leuel Geberu, Deputy General Director of the authority said that his authority is set to undertake its duties and responsibilities enshrined in the proclamation diligently being guided and supported by ethical principles. we have to make sure that our staff and the media at large should be inculcated in such a way that they live up to the standards of journalistic principles by fighting corruption and malpractices, he made it clear .
Gizaw and counter parts
Gizaw Asefa , ethics officer with EBA, not only Briefed the visiting ethics officers on the overall activities of his section , but also responded to various questions raised to him by them .
According to Gizaw , authority staff have been receiving ethical education through different media , of which lessons shared through intercom stands out .
Intercom has enabled workers here to get on line education right at their desks throughout the year , he said and went on to state that this experience is believed, by the Federal Ethics and anti Corruption Commission , to be model .
Later Tadesse zenebe, senior consultant with the commission on his part reiterated that the role of such experience sharing in fighting and containing corruption and unethical behaviors is immense.
EBA ,as a regulator , is situated more than any other institution at the center of expanding ethical education and paralyzing corruption in the media .
PBX communication , seminar, question and answer sessions ,observation , questionnaire ,and interview were reportedly just some of the mechanisms that the section uses to create awareness on the part of the workers and fight corruption .
Mean while delegates have toured and visited media and ethics related activates of the authority.
